In this world is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? is it like the hand of god(deus ex machina) hovering above? atleast it is true... that man has no control over his own will.
BERSERK
Volume 1: War Cry
Berserk is the story of a swordsmen. One that weilds great
power, and a sword not to many could ever handle. He is able
to defeat even an immortal. His name is the Black Swordsmen.
This volume contains the first five episodes of the series.
War Cry is based on how he met Griffith, and became a fighter
in the Band of the Hawk, and how he learned to fight with a
sword, and what happened in his childhood.
This show has great fight scenes, and a lot of blood and gore.
There is a lot of cussing, and some nudity. The intro music doesn't
suit the show very much, but who really cares about the music? Also
it seemed funny to me that a couple of the characters has Goku's voice!!
The graphics are awesome, and anyone who is a fan of fights, and blood should watch this show.
CHARACTERS:
Guts -
The main character. Also known as the Black Swordsmen. He weilds a sword somewhat like a zanbato, with such power that it is amazing. He was born from a corpse. After two weeks with the Band of the Hawk he becomes a captain.
Master -
An immortal who takes the shape of a half human, half snake during the fight with Guts.
Bazuso -
Known as the 30-man Slayer, and the Bear Slaughterer.
He is a huge soldier twice as big as anyone.
Cozka -
A woman who is a commander in the Band of the Hawk
also know as Death on the Battle Feild.
Griffith -
Leader of the Band of the Hawk, which is a group of mercenaries who are hired by midland kingdom.
Corkus -
A bastard in the Band of the Hawk who has it in for Guts.
Ricket -
Another member of the Band of the Hawk. he is rescued by Guts in the First Battle. From then on Ricket takes a liking to Guts.
Gambino -
Was sort of a father to Guts. He was the one who trained Guts, and Gambino's wife was the one who found Guts as a baby.
Commander Adon -
A huge coward, He doesn't deserve his position.

| James | 08-26-2004 15:28 [E-Mail,Site] | I just finished renting and watching all 6 DVD's in the United States. I find very few Anime's good or great. I consider Vampire Hunter D, Akira, and Princess Mononoke to be some of the best Anime's. Then I rented the first Berserk DVD and I was hooked! The developed characters, story, substance, music, villians, violence, emotion; is VERY GOOD passionate film making! Berserk is truly one of the greatest Anime's ever made, period! I originally believed that the ending in Hell was how it was supposed to end because everyone seems to die tragically, and that Great Eclise Ending has some amazingly stong, powerful elements to it... many characters die we've come to like so much!!!... but, and I say BUT -- it shows that Casca, Guts, and Griffith are still alive.
So while going online, I read that there is much more to the story, but how? Who is left??? I think it should have ended with the ECLIPSE "Gods Hand" DVD because everyone dying and Griffith getting his dream is far more conclusive, however, they could have showed Casca going out fighting... if indeed they chose to end it like this. But apparently the great story continues in the comics. Whatever happened to the follow-up fight where Guts fights Griffith (the big monster) from the first Volume??? Why didn't Griffith try to fight off the evil better, because he got his dream; he didn't have to kill Guts and the girl, but I think it makes it incridible, dark, and disturbing if it ends like that, HOWEVER... the story SOMEHOW goes on in the comics I read. Okay???... so I hope they finish the story on DVD and end it with an awesome Volume 2, and hopefully the end will be dark and insane like the end of Season 1, but actually less abrupt and more CONCLUSIVE!!!
I really want to see the whole thing finished on DVD and end awesome, even if everyone dies in the end, make it feel conclusive and FINISH this excellent series. It is doing good on rental here in the USA, specifically at Block Buster where I myself rented all 6 Volumes, ending with the extremely wicked, tragic, and vividly animated, yet somewhat unresolved or abrupt "God's Hand." If ANYONE KNOWS IF THEY WILL MAKE A SEASON 2 OR SEVERAL MORE VOLUMES PLEASE E-MAIL ME. GET THE WORD OUT. THIS SERIES ROCKS!!! I've downloaded the suposed episode and it's only about 1 minute long with Gutz in a forest with spirits creeping up to him.
If anyone knows where I can get a copy of the 26th episode, I would be very greatful.
